History of Palomino RV
Palomino RVs came about because of one man’s mission to design better RVs. From this hopeful vision grew an iconic and well-known company! The Company’s Founding
Our story begins in 1968. Vern Landey, a tent trailer distributor, dreamed of creating his own campers. He wanted to craft lightweight rigs that would be easier to tow and transport. His models also used strategic floor plans that led to a more enjoyable time inside the camper and made better use of the space. These original models were also sold at a budget-friendly price, making them accessible for many families.The first Palomino RVs were crafted in Savage, Minnesota. But, soon, customer demand for Palomino campers outpaced the production potential at that site. By 1972, the company had upgraded to a larger space in Colon, Michigan. A fire tragically destroyed the main production buildings and offices in 1992, but the Palomino trailers were still sold at high rates.
Changes for Palomino RV
In 1998, the company unveiled a 75,000 square foot production facility to keep up with high demand. They also released a new ultra-lightweight travel trailer line to help keep Vern Landey's original dream alive.In 2002, Palomino's parent company, Vanguard, was bought by Forest River. This led to a massive increase in sales and production for Palomino RV and the company continued operating independently of the parent company, allowing them to maintain small business values. Today, Palomino is one of the top five RV manufacturers in North America with Palomino trailers available at over 300 dealerships.
